Long Grain Brown Rice
Our rice comes form a large organic
farm located in Arkansas. The most nutritious kind of rice is brown
rice, which embodies abundant amounts of fiber, complex carbohydrates,
and essential B vitamins. Plus, it contains a powerful compound that
helps reduce the amount of cholesterol produced by the body. Since
high cholesterol is one of the biggest risk factors for heart disease,
brown rice can play a key role in any heart-protection plan.
Cooking Instructions:
Add 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of boiling chicken broth or water.
Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until desired texture is
obtained. Try adding butter, onions, garlic, or 1 package of insant
soup mix to the boiling water for a different flavor.
Minnesota Wild Rice:
Our native rice is from the wilds
of Minnesota, hand harvested by Indians in the traditional fashion,
from canoes. You will enjoy this wonderful organic nut-like grain.
Cooking Instructions:
Wash wild rice thoroughly. Add 1 cup of wild rice to 4 cups of
boiling water. (I use chicken broth for flavor). Reduce heat. Cover
and simmer for approximately 45 minutes or until desired texture is
obtained. Drain any excess liquid. Season to taste. I add miced garlic
and chopped onions to the chicen broth for the entire cooking time.
Try adding butter, sauteed green peppers or mushrooms for a gourmet
treat.
